Weekend Link Love: 04. 27. 12

We're heading into the final weekend of April, and I can't believe it! How did May sneak up on us so quickly?! Over the next few days I'll be putting a fun new DIY together to share with you all next week (fingers crossed that it works out), I'll also be painting the May calendar page printable that will go out in my newsletter on Monday, and then I will begin prepping for an extended trip I'll be taking later on in May. Phew! I hope your Friday is quick and your weekend is long. Enjoy it! xo Ez

And now I leave you with a few sweet things that caught my attention recently:

  1. The new issue of Utterly Engaged is stunning. You can read the entire thing for free right here.
  2. DIY Painted Jam Jar Vases spotted over on Diary of a Mod Housewife
  3. Blooming Gift Toppers from Stephmodo (spotted via Monica on Pinterest)
  4. DIY Gilded Notebooks from Eat Sleep Cuddle (spotted via Jessica on Pinterest)
  5. The Icing or the Cake? A topic I've been thinking about a lot lately, and a great reminder to keep life in perspective from Makeunder My Life.

Domino Magazine: Quick Fixes

A collective cheer was recently heard round blogosphere (and I'm adding my voice today) when the shuttered-and-very-much-missed Domino Magazine announced that they would be publishing a few special issues. The first one hit newsstands this month, and I thought I'd share a few peeks inside my copy with you (you're going to have to snag your own copy to see the rest).

Yes, it might cover stories that they've already published in their old issues, but there is still plenty to love...from the gorgeous typography:

...to small details like these "I heart this" bookmarking corners (the most charming thing ever):

Here's a peek at just one corner that I organized in my office after reading the issue once through. It might not be Domino-worthy, but it looks a lot nicer now than it did before:

Seriously though...any magazine that can inspire me to completely reorganize and clean my house and office during my precious weekend time, is ace in my book. Thanks Domino for doing what you do! I hope to see much more of you in the very near future. xo Ez

And here's a wee snapshot of my beloved saved issues of Domino from year's past. I still read and love them!

A Sweet Scavenger Hunt with Amy Atlas

{Sneak peek at one of the projects/stories inside Amy Atlas' new book Sweet Designs}

Amy Atlas is a magician and a maven all rolled into one when it comes to party planning and her famous dessert tables. If you've seen her work before, you undoubtedly agree. So when Amy got in touch and asked if I could help her with a fun and playful virtual scavenger hunt / sneak peek of her new book Sweet Designs, I was delighted. Of course I said "yes!"

Like with most scavenger hunts, there is an awesome prize involved. If you're new to the hunt today, here's how it works. All day today, Amy has been sharing clues on her blog about the blogs you will need to visit in order to pick up your scavenger hunt clues. After visiting each site she shares (7 in all) you will have a complete sentence (from the clue words) that you will then use to enter to win this:

A 5-quart Stand Mixer from KitchenAid! Um yea...can I just say that I'm jealous of whomever of you wins. Oh...and one of you WILL win, because the first person who answers the scavenger hunt challenge correctly who says they came from Creature Comforts will win. That means one reader from every blog participating is going to win. So exciting!

There is only one clue left after the one I'm about to give you, so hurry over to Amy's blog to get caught up on the first line-up of participating blogs/clues, and be sure to check back on her blog in one hour for the final clue. After you have all your clue words, hop over to Amy's blog one last time at 4pm Eastern Time to be the first from Creature Comforts to enter in the completed sentence in the comment section of her blog. Be sure to say that you came from Creature Comforts!

And now...your clue word: "PINK"

I hope you'll come back by and let me know if you're the lucky winner. Good luck everyone! xo Ez
