One Good Thing: Alexander Girard Gift Wrap

I'm so smitten with this gorgeous gift wrap by Alexander Girard. It might even be one of my most favorite design of all time (and that is saying a lot since I am a major gift wrap fiend). The design is almost too pretty to wrap a gift with only to see it shredded to pieces on the floor moments later (don't you think). Perhaps a clever gift wrap covered box is in order instead. xo Ez

Creative Inspiration: D.I.Y. Festive Lampshade Tree

I'm not sure if the original intention of this creative DIY project from IKEA's SY - Sincerely Textiles book was for it to be used as a makeshift Christmas Tree, but that's what it looks like to me...so I'm running with it. Wouldn't this be such a fun sculptural statement in a corner. When hung from the ceiling it leaves ample room for Christmas presents underneath...and the wire lends itself perfectly for hanging ornaments, wrapping on garlands, pinning on cards and doodads (like pinecones), or otherwise festooning with holiday merriment. You don't have to use fabric at all if you don't want to. The best part is that lampshades can be found at flea markets and thrift stores for just a few dollars and the creative possibilities are as limitless as your imagination.

Other ideas:

  • Spray paint the metal frame in a vivid or metallic color.
  • Suspend a cluster of low-heat holiday lights in the middle of your "tree" for a warm glow (use caution if you will be including fabric on your frame, so that it doesn't catch fire).
  • Attach layers of cut paper snowflakes or lacy white doilies to the outside of the frame for a delicate look.

One Good Thing: Laser Cut Bunting

If you've been frequenting my blog for any length of time, then you are probably aware that I have a been having an obsession with buntings for quite some time (paper, fabric, natural, synthetic - I love 'em all). Even so, it can sometimes feel like putting the brakes on this craze might not be such a bad idea (does that happen to you with popular trends too - one moment you love it and the next you don't).

Of course my obsession was instantly revived when I spotted this beautiful Laser Cut Bunting from Rocket St. George (they ship all over btw). It would look gorgeous for Holiday decorating, but would also lend itself just as well to a quaint wedding, Mother's Day celebration, etc. The perfect decorating accessory to store in your crafty closet for use all year round! See more images/purchase your own bunting right here.  xo Ez

Inspiration Daily: 11. 08. 10

Hello lovelies. As you've probably already noticed, so many of my posts draw inspiration from specific color palettes (I guess that's how my brain works first and foremost). I always enjoy putting my color crush posts together so much, so I thought I might start adding a little palette sample below my inspiration daily posts too. What do you think? Maybe the little snippets will inspire some great new combinations or projects in your world.  xo Ez
