Last Week's Trip + This Past Weekend in Photos

Since I've been virtually gone since last week, I thought I'd share a few extra Instagram photos today starting with my trip to San Francisco, then my quick vacation in Colorado, and finally this past weekend. I missed you all while I was away and am looking forward to a new week of blogging. Thanks for stopping by today! xo Ez

1. My flight to San Francisco was a long one (because of a hefty airport delay), so I was doubly excited to see this gorgeous bed waiting for me at the Hotel Vitale when I arrived at last.

2. The next morning (after a great night of sleep in that awesome bed) a group of 25 bloggers convened at The Bold Italic for a day of fun with the Art.com team. More about that on my blog soon.

3. One of the treats of the event was a gorgeous framed silkscreen print that they let me pick out. I should have had someone stand near it for scale...it's deceptively large (in a good way of course)!

4. The one downside of the day was the inferno-spicy sandwiches that they served us for lunch (holy moley). After the initial shock, watery eyes, and burning subsided, I grabbed a heaping pile of macaroons and made myself a meal of them instead. Not too shabby!

5. Later that night we ate a delicious meal at the Bluxome Street Winery, prepared for us by Stag Dining Group. Here I am with my beautiful friend Christine (photo snagged from her instagram feed — she's @milestostyle if you'd like to follow her).

6. It was just a quick day and a half long trip and then I had to say farewell to the always beautiful San Francisco. Crossing my fingers that I can go back again soon!

1. On Saturday I flew into Colorado to pick up my daughter from camp and meet my Mom, youngest sister, and brother for our weekend vacation. Unfortunately my little one was feeling under the weather, so we piled into the car and drove through the Rockies to our destination as quickly as we could.

2. We spent most of our trip at the Glenwood Hot Springs (the largest hot springs in the world), and enjoyed it immensely.

3. There was so much natural beauty to see everywhere you looked...

4. ...and some gorgeous manmade beauty as well. This is a mural that I spotted in an alleyway in Glenwood Springs, CO.

5. On Tuesday we said goodbye to lovely Colorado and started our long drive home.

6. The miles kept rolling by...and I amused myself (for a day and a half) by taking photos of the passing scenery.

1. On Wednesday we finally made it back to Oklahoma! I don't know if I've ever been so happy to drive my own car and shop in my own grocery store before. I guess there really is nothing quite like the creature comforts of home!

2. Unfortunately throughout our entire trip my poor daughter was really under the weather (we took her to a doctor while in CO to try to get her feeling better), but since she was still miserable on Thursday, I took her in to a doctor in our town.

3. The doctor on Thursday ended up being a nutter, so on Friday I took her in to see her regular doctor. She was a trooper getting some blood drawn, and we're hoping for nothing but good news when the results come back today or tomorrow.

4. Later that day my throat started acting up, so I guzzled lemon honey "tea" like it was going out of style and by the next morning I was feeling a bit better (thanks goodness).

5. We took the rest of the weekend to rest (all of us)...

6. ...and eat some delicious berries. Yum! There's nothing quite like nutritious fresh food after you've been on the road for days!

I'm Trippin'

Hi friends! I'm headed off to San Francisco for an exciting work-related affair (can't wait to tell you more about it on instagram while I'm there) and then will be flying over to Colorado to pick my daughter up from camp on Saturday. My Mom, little brother, and youngest sister will meet us there and we'll then be spending the rest of the weekend and early next week soaking in the sweet Colorado air, hopefully white water rafting (like we did last year) and then road-tripping home. I'll be instagramming as much as possible (although my phone connection will probably be spotty for long stretches while in CO), and I hope you'll follow my trip and keep me company along the way. You can find me on instagram: @creaturecomforts. See you next week! xo Ez

P.S. I have posts scheduled for tomorrow and early next week in my absence, so you shouldn't notice too much of a change around here. xo

Everyday Inspirations: Blackberries & A New Brass Bracelet

A few days ago I received a gorgeous bracelet in the mail that I had ordered on etsy and was still in the middle of gazing at it when my Mom came by for a visit and shared some of her amazing freshly picked blackberries with me. For some reason the two together inspired me (maybe something about the shiny hard metal in contrast to the richness of the dark berries), so I decided to snap a few photos and then rounded up some pretty items inspired by them. Here's to finding inspiration in the everyday! xo Ez

1. Low-cut Bathing Suit ($49.90) - Zara | 2. Winifred Grace Necklace ($230) - Conifer Shop | 3. Triangle Maxi Dress ($91) - Topshop | 4. Tribal Skinny Brass Cuff ($36) - Soft Gold Studio | 5. Black & White Straw Handle Bag ($60) - Piperlime | 6. Butter London 3 Free Nail Lacquer in West End Wonderland ($14) - Sephora | 7. Medium Black Leather Case ($40) - Baggu | 8. DV by Dolce Vita Archer Sandals ($69) - Piperlime | 9. Wide-Heel Strappy Sandals ($99.90) - Zara

My Weekend in Photos: June 15-17

Hi friends! Did you all have a fun weekend? For some reason I imagined that I'd have loads of free time on my hands (no idea where that idea came from) but it the entire thing was packed full of important errands and tasks to do to get my daughter ready for her week-long Summer camp. Oh well. It was still spotted with lovely little bits to appreciate. Here are a few of my weekend moments as shared on Instagram.

1. I framed and hung up my beautiful Be Brave poster from Jess Constable in my living room. It's a great thing to look at every time I walk in the front door or get ready to leave.

2. I baked up a batch of our favorite cookies to send on the airplane with my daughter today. In my scatterbrained state I forgot the flattening step before baking, but fortunately they still tasted good.

3. Freshly picked berries are one of my most favorite things...ever, and my mom was sweet enough to share some of the bounty from her garden with me. I honestly have no idea how she manages to grow anything in our crazy Oklahoma weather...she's amazing!

4. Just one week until I'll be wearing my new bathing suit. It's the first one-piece I've ever been excited to wear! P.S. I couldn't find it online to link to, but incase you're interested, it's by 2Bamboo and I found it at Macy's.

5. I dropped my daughter off at the airport this morning for her trip to camp. This week will be the longest time I've spent away from her! The house feels all echoey and too quiet with her gone, and I already can't wait to meet up with her next weekend in Colorado for a mini vacation before we head home again. There might be a few tears shed this week (on my end...I'm sure she'll be off having the time of her life).

6. I have a stack of mini doodles (each character is only about 2 inches tall) sitting on my desk and it seemed like a fair time to introduce two of them. The little lad on the left is by far my favorite with his jaunty little cap and old-school strong man's leotard. Do you doodle when you're on the phone, stressed out, or just trying to pass the time too? It's something I've done since I was a kid (it always drove my parents and teachers crazy)!

My Weekend in Photos: June 8-10

Hi friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Here's a little photo recap of how my daughter and I spent it (as posted over on Instagram). I've been having a blast keeping up with so many of you over on Instagram...seriously you guys are amazing.

1. My daughter and I started up at the gym again after a too-long three-month hiatus. Sore doesn't even begin to describe the current state of my muscles. Ouch! But even still, it feels good to be back at it.

2. This little robin (we've named him Lander) spends a lot of time in our yard hopping about (he rarely flies - although he knows how to and doesn't appear to be injured) and this weekend he followed me around while I mowed the lawn...sometimes getting as close as 5 feet away. Of course once I went inside to get my phone he decided to get camera shy. Oh well...still such a happy distraction from an otherwise mundane task!

3. We had a few lovely evenings this weekend. Once it gets up into the 90s every day, you really start to look forward to the sun setting so that you can breathe once again. Ahhh...

4. Sunday was spent with our family...grabbing lunch, wandering around the park, drinking refreshing iced chai tea, and then watching Snow White and the Huntsman. I really enjoyed the movie and found very few instances to doubt Kristen Stewart's portrayal of Snow White (that was my biggest concern going into the film) and while there were a few other things I would have like to see the director do differently, I'd overall still recommend seeing it.
