Photo Friday: The Birds

Almost two years ago, my daughter and I visited the Tulsa Zoo. Ever since then I've been meaning to take a look at and edit a few of the photos from that day and last night I finally got around to it. Here are a few of my favorite characters. The very first bird with the injured claw (a rescue) ant the plaintive look in his eye was my favorite. And if you are afraid of birds and didn't already look away you might want to stop scrolling for now. I'll be back with one more post (it's a tasty one) in few. xo Ez

Can you believe this guy is a pigeon?! A Blue Crowned Pigeon to be exact. Yes, I love birds...but I have to admit that I was a more than a little bit happy that there was a sheet of glass separating the two of us. Just look at those eyes! Eep!

My Weekend in Photos: June 1-3

Hi sweets! How was your weekend? A lot of mine was spent working on some fun projects that you'll be seeing here on CC soon (that was the good part), and then most of yesterday was spent trying to resolve a major computer issue (the not so good part). But that's the way the cookie crumbles, right. Speaking of cookies, I made the Half-way to Heaven Peanut Butter Cookies again (minus the filling this time) and they were every bit as tasty as I remembered them being. If you haven't whipped up your own batch yet, you are seriously missing out!

Here's a tiny little photo recap of my weekend as posted over on Instagram. Somehow I managed to capture an accidental color palette too!

1. I rarely every buy house paint, but that doesn't stop me from drooling over the paint samples every time I find myself inside a hardware store.

2. The next day I had fun mixing up paint colors (not house paint sadly) for one of the projects I'll be sharing with you guys this week.

3. Now that the Summer heat has made it's official arrival, I've been mixing up smoothies as often as I can reasonably get away with. These ones happened to look nice alongside another project I was working on so I had to snap a quick photo.

4. It's fun to see what treasures you can find in places like Target. This pretty design was on the cover of a set of wee notebooks they currently sell. I resisted temptation and didn't get them...but now I can't stop thinking about them! Oh bother!

Photo Friday: Archives of Aqua

Inspired by my friend Nichole's gorgeous new book Paris in Color (for which she strolled the streets of Paris hunting down and photographing scenes infused with one predominate color—she covers ten gorgeous hues inside the book's pages), I decided to take a little saunter of my own through the image archives on my computer. The sheer volume of images is overwhelming, but as Nichole mentioned in her book, narrowing your focus down to just one color allows images to rise to the surface that might otherwise be overlooked.

So I ended up selecting my favorite color, aqua (no big shocker there) and had so much fun rediscovering old images that I'd long since forgotten about. I think it's a great exercise, and one that I highly encourage you to take as well. Don't you want to join in the fun?! What color will you start with?

Color Inspiration Daily: Agave

I was up super late last night working on a fun Father's Day gift roundup that I'll be posting a little bit later today, and found myself with heavy eyes barely open looking for an image for today's Color Inspiration. I wasn't sure what I was going to post until I spotted this photo of an Agave plant that I took while in California. I absolutely adore the color and hope you don't mind me using it in place of another artist's work today. xo Ez

My Weekend in Photos: May 25-28

Hi guys! I hope you had a fabulous extended weekend. Ours was great! Here's a little photo recap of how my daughter and I spent it (as posted over on Instagram). It's been so much fun keeping up with so many of you over there...I'm kind of obsessed really.

1. Mowing the lawn is a lot more enjoyable when you can stop for Instagram photo breaks every so often.

2. Trying out new flavors at our favorite shaved ice shack, and trying on new nail polish colors too (those are my daughter's hands in the photo)!

3. Everything tastes better through a pretty stripey straw!

4. You are beautiful! Yes, you! A little glittery reminder hanging on our wall. Tutorial here, in case you are interested.

5. Sunday morning snuggles from my sweet pup, Stella.

6. Hipster sky...sporting a mustache! Other than brightening the color, there was no editing done to the photo at all. The cloud really looked like that!

7. Hollyhocks out at my parent's house. Something about these flowers always makes me feel so nostalgic for my childhood.

8. Worked on an adapted version of the yummy strawberry cheesecake pie I posted about last week. This time I'm trying out almonds and raspberries. It's chilling in the fridge right now...I can't wait to try it later today!
