D.I.Y. Shoe Bag Tutorial by Betz White

I would consider myself to be a moderate sewer at best.  I've always wished I was better, but it just isn't gonna happen.  So when I came across this fabulous D.I.Y Shoe Bag Tutorial by Betz White yesterday I immediately filed it away as a "project I must do within the somewhat near future." Not only is it simple enough that I can manage to follow along, but it incorporates another one of my great loves...vintage bedding!

I also think that these bags would make the best gifts!  They'd be perfect for brides and bridesmaids and could be used for more than just shoes!  The possibilities are endless!

If you love this project, then you'll also love Betz's etsy shop and book, Sewing Green.  xox Ez

I love this idea & just the idea of using vintage sheets in general. Could be used as gift wrap, to upholster storage boxes for the office, etc. The whole re-use of something beautiful is great! Thank you so much for sharing!

What a lovely idea and such beautiful pictures! Great find and thanks for sharing! Off to make a few for myself ;)
My mother in law makes shoe bags so I had her make matching ones for all my bridesmaids. It was a great gift. She ended up with extra fabric so also made matching travel jewlery pouches.

Hi Amanda! I have found most of my collection in local thrift shops and a few of the pillowcases on etsy. Half the fun is the hunt for them! : )xoEz

I love these colorful vintage fabrics, Ez, and it's cool how you found shoes to coordinate. :)

Thanks for posting this! Right now, my husband is the tailor in our family until I practice enough to be the family seamstress. I can't wait until I'm good enough to try this one out!

Such a clever idea and an excellent way to protect your precious pumps from getting nicked by other shoes.

I love discovering crafty little things that the kids and I can do at home, like this one. Bags like these, which are easy to make, have a variety of uses for all ages.

This project is simple to do, and light on the wallet if you don't already have the materials at home.

Keep 'em coming!

Thanks for sharing this, Ez!

I got a sewing machine as a wedding gift a year ago and have yet to even take it out of the box... I just didn't know where to start...

This looks like a good project for me to kick start my sewing adventures :)

Hi Kelly! It looks like the shoes are from a past season at J.Crew. I don't believe they carry this particular style any more. : (xoEz
