But I can still tell you about our colors! :-) I chose first a charcoal/pewter grey shade, b/c grey is my fav color. We decided to start collecting old silverplate coffee pots and teapots, along with the creamers and sugars, for all the floral centerpieces. Most are tarnished, and we're leaving them that way! We both love our coffee (he asked me for coffee for our first date and even though it's cliche, I loved that he loved coffee), and our mothers love their tea. So we're making it work.
Then my mother said that I couldn't have a wedding of just grey, so we added a warm blush pink, so pale it looks cream. (This way, Aaron's darling niece can wear a pink dress as our flowergirl - every girl's dream, or mine at least!) The church dates back to 1707 and is all whitewashed walls and grey painted woodwork. So we're keeping the pink flowers VERY pale here, with the pewter bridesmaid dresses. I am wearing a silk dress in "natural".
The reception site is an old gentlemen's club called The Casino, and its walls and ceilings are covered with antique gold and mauve frescoes - which could be totally ugly but we're pulling out the pretty parts and making it work. We're not going to fight the space, we'll work with it. The flowers here will be deeper pinks, and we're adding goldish accents. Tealight candles will be everywhere to give everything a golden hue.
To play up the fact that the site is called a casino, the placecards will be playing cards tucked into envelopes with guests' names written on the outsides, and the tables will be 2-10 plus J, Q, and K. Aaron and I will sit at the ACE table. (His nickname growing up was Ace.) I found old giant playing cards that are 5"x7" to stick out of the centerpieces to indicate the tables' card.
I've written entirely too much. Thanks for sharing those little girl dresses, I am off to check out that site.
