A Quick Little Peek

Hi lovelies! Thank you so much for all your sweet birthday wishes yesterday. Reading through them was such a wonderful gift to me...you brought tears of happiness to my eyes! So thank you again! You guys really are the best! xo

Here's one of the projects I was working on finishing up yesterday. A little cake topper for my sister and soon-to-be brother in law. They know I'm making it, but they don't know what it is going to look like until I surprise them with it tomorrow. I hope they like it.

It's become a tradition (of sorts) for me to make the toppers for my sisters when they get married (I made my first one a few years ago) and it was a hit. I'm not a cake topper expert by any means, but they are a lot of fun to make and I hope my other sisters will ask me to make theirs when the time comes (if my brother wants me to make his that would be super cool too (hehe), though I'm sure his future bride will have her own ideas, so we'll just have to wait and see). Thanks for taking a little peek. xo Ez

By the way, if you are ever interested in making your own cake topper, almost every single supply is easy to find in fabric and craft stores. The only supply not purchased on my topper here is the little flowers (vintage).

DIY Halloween Floral Arrangements

Brittany, the uber talent lady behind One Charming Party got in touch recently to see if I might like to share one of her recent projects with you. Of course I said "yes"...I mean come on...she is just too good. Here she shows us how to take simple supplies and make a truly spook-tacular floral display for your home or Halloween party. Take it away Brittany!

Using black and white flowers and incorporating hues of grey, you’re sure to instantly set a frightfully fun mood this Halloween. And you don’t need to splurge on vases for these spooky decorations. Pull out your cans from the recycle bin and spray paint the cans black or leave them plain. You can even glue two cans on top of each other, just hide the seam with some ribbon (only the top can is used for flowers and water, but it gives the illusion of a taller vase).

Then add feathers, mini signs (made with black paper and a white paint pen from the craft store), moss or painted branches to add interest to your Halloween floral arrangements. But most of all, have fun with it.

We used a variety of flowers in these arrangements: ranunculus, dusty miller, gerbera daisies, berzelia, scabiosa (with the centers painted black with acrylic paint), rudbeckia seed heads, football mums, Spanish moss, and a manzanita branch.

See a whole lot more from Brittany at One Charming Party.
