Site for Sore Eyes: The Kitchy Kitchen

When you come across a food photograph that is so scrumptious looking that you quite literally have to hold yourself back from licking your computer screen, you know that it's worth finding out more about the photo / recipe / etc. Such is the case with The tantalizing work of Claire Thomas, the mastermind behind The Kitchy Kitchen. I first came across her Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches via Syndi on Pinterest, and have been torturing myself (in a good way of course) by stalking her site ever since.

Really, I double-dog dare you to visit her blog and not immediately scrawl down a shopping list so that you can recreate one of her tasty recipes. Even if you're not adept in the kitchen, the eye-candy on her site is worth a visit. Skedaddle on over and see more of The Kitchy Kitchen for yourself.

Overcoming Blogger's Block: Step 1

So yesterday I hopped on twitter and made a confession: I've been having a horrible case of the dreaded bloggers block lately. You've probably experienced the feeling too in one way or another (even if you're not a blogger)...maybe you were stuck while trying to write an important paper, needed to draw something brilliant and could only muster a half-hearted stick figure, or just stared in the fridge listlessly and realized that you have no idea what you're looking for in there (err...I mean, no idea what to cook for supper). Whatever the type of block may be, when it parks itself in your brain, it's no fun. Am I right, or am I right?

In any case, I received some incredibly lovely supportive tweets and several suggestions for breaking through the block. The main ones were:

  1. get away from the computer
  2. go outside
  3. take some photos

Excellent advice...so I did all three. To be honest I really just decided to leave the house so that I'd be doing something other than staring at a blank screen and fighting off tears of frustration, but you know what...after the first couple photos I started to feel world's better. So my blogger's block isn't completely gone, but at least I had a lovely evening and can share a little bit of that with you here today. Step 1: Get a change of scenery - completed!

Next up, Overcoming Blogger's Block: Step 2 - not sure what that is yet, but I'll keep you posted. xo Ez

Color Inspiration Daily: 03. 09. 12

A row of white blossoming trees caught my eye on the way to the store yesterday afternoon, and as soon as I returned home and quickly stashed my groceries, I grabbed my camera and headed out to take a few photos. The weather was pretty chilly (good thing I thought to throw on my winter jacket as I dashed out the door), and as soon as I parked my car at the curb it started to hail on me. I wasn't about to head home without a few photos though, so with teeth chattering I hopped outside and snapped a few shots anyway.

I just love all the pure clean white mixed with that crisp pop of green. If you look really closely in the second shot you can even see that the pollen inside each flower is bright pink!

Have a gorgeous weekend friends! xo Ez

Souvenir Foto School: Day 29 - Y for Yogurt

I wish I could have planned to shoot something a bit more dynamic for my final Souvenir Foto School assignment, but in the end I was stuck with the letter "Y" and no time to think (since I'm a little frantic with packing and all), so I ended up shooting my afternoon snack. Of course I normally just eat it out of the container, but decided to put it into a prettier dish so that my photos would be a complete bummer.

Anyhow, even though it's not the most fascinating subject, this particular brand of yogurt is my favorite. Have you ever had Fage Greek Yogurt? It seems like something I should hate...thick tart yogurt (eww), but my sister got me hooked on it a few months ago, and I can't stop eating it. The peach and blueberry varieties are my fave.

Have a great rest of your week. I'll miss you all while I'm gone on my trip. If you start pinning away for me too much in my absence (hehe...one can dream), then I hope you'll take a second to browse through some of my past posts. It will make the waiting go faster. And you never know...you just might find something that you missed. See you next Monday! xo Ez

BTW...If you'd like you can also find all my images in individual and diptych form for this entire month-long class challenge over in my flickr album. | Souvenir Foto School is offered by Besotted Brand.
