Good Taste: GaGa Creamy Raspberry Sherbet Bars
During one Summer of my youth, I vividly remember getting into a day-long battle with a "friend" from summer camp when she announced that the word sherbet was supposed to be pronounced: Shur-bay. I quickly corrected her and told her that I was pretty sure it was Shur-burt. She countered by telling me that I was a moron...everyone knew that it was Shur-bay...just like Sor-bay, duh! I'm pretty sure I had some quiet doubts after those fighting words, but I was too heavily invested in proving myself linguistically superior to back down. So we squabbled back and forth until finally we found ourselves deadlocked and promptly gave each other the silent treatment for the rest of the day. Ahh childhood! If only we'd had the wonder of Google and speedy hand-held technological devices back then...we would have quickly discovered that oh look at that...I was right! It's pronounced Shur-burt or Shur-bit (no shur-bay pronunciation in sight).
Anyhow, these tasty Raspberry Sherbet Bars by GaGa are to blame for that jaunt down memory lane. They are smooth and creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. They are so smooth that I'm almost tempted to call them sherbayyy! And that says something! My daughter and I discovered them at the new Fresh Market that just opened up here in Tulsa, and I can't wait to try their other flavors. Have you had a GaGa bar before? If so, how is the coconut version? That one is next on my list. If you want to find GaGa bars in your area you can check out their store locations here. Here's to scrumptious frozen treats...and the (almost) equally satisfying feeling of discovering that I was right, all these many Summers later! xo Ez

perhaps your friend was confusing sherbet with sorbet? : )
Aaaack, I know a lot of people pronounce a second R in the word but...it's not there! It's one of my pet peeves! (But really, "bey"? Maybe if you're hilariously pretentious...)
I LOVE what you've done with this image. The subtle dot pattern is just fantastic.
Thanks so much Nikole!
Looks and sounds yummy! One time in about 7th grade me and a friend got into a fight about how to pronounce the name 'Trelawney,' as in the Hogwarts professor. Haha! It got to be SUCH a big deal and even now so many years later me and my friend have mixed versions of who was right. I ended up being right in the end (shhh don't tell her). I'm hoping to get my hands one of these yummy looking bars!
I once got into a fight/argument/DISCUSSION with a coworker about the proper definition of nougat (fluffy or chewy?)
Haha! Your story totally made me laugh! I have had SO many arguments with people regarding the pronunciation of sherbet. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!
(Love, love love the photo, by the way!)
