Souvenir Foto School: Day 19 - D for Dying Flowers
I was clearing these dying tulips off of my desk this morning when I realized how lovely they are...even in their petal-dropping last moments. So I just snapped a few quick photos for today's Souvenir Foto School assignment. I've always loved how the petals of most dying flowers will change colors as they go, often becoming nearly translucent before fading away. Beautiful! xo Ez

your whole series for foto school has been beautiful, but there is something particularly poignant and ephemeral about these images. Seeing the "veins" in the tulips petals, and as you said the translucence of the petals, and also the temporary-ness, really of everything. So beautiful EZ.
Simply beautiful.
Wow! I love the detail in those photographs! xo, rv

Amazing photos. Beautiful.
beautiful photography...
I have really been enjoying your photos from foto school. Simply stunning. I am going to have to check out the school as I really need some good instruction myself.
I am really enjoying this series!
Those photographs are gorgeous, tulips are some of my favourite flowers and you've captured them perfectly!
I love popping in here and seeing pretty photos everyday! The close-up of the tulip petal is particularly beautiful. I am no photography expert, but I love the lighting in that one and that it almost seems to be glowing. Will you have some new prints in your shop as a result of this Foto School assignment? :)
these photos are exquisite! May I be so bold as to ask how you lighted the flowers please?
Thanks so much everyone!
Angeline - The full flower image was shot with the light of my office window as a backlight. I didn't use any bounce or reflectors. The petal image was similarly shot, but with the office window to the back-left of the scene. Hope that helps! xo Ez
Thanks heaps! Your photo series has been so inspiring... I'm itching to try too... :)
