In Good Company: Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams
Yesterday I came across Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams via Jacquelyn on Pinterest, and it was literally love at first sight. I've never had the pleasure of tasting any of Jeni's mouthwatering flavors (such as Bourbon Buttered Pecan, Pistachio & Honey, Wildberry Lavender, and more — don't they sound amazing), but they sound so good that $12 a pint seems almost reasonable. But more than the creative and naturally flavored ice creams, I am in love with the branding and online web atmosphere of Jeni's. I see a lot of sites, but hers made me want to stick around and dig through the pages...scoop by tasty scoop.
You can see all of the flavors available and more at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. And here's a fun little video that photographer George Lange put together for them. It's perfect! If you have an extra second, also be sure to check out George's photos of Jeni's Ice Cream behind-the-scenes. They really give you a sense of the passion and teamwork that goes into the brand.

their seasonal brambleberry ice cream is my absolute favorite. so good
YAY! Jeni's is based in my hometown, Columbus.
Yippee. And it is DELICIOUS.
I'm so lucky to live just a few blocks from a Jeni's store, but my dairy-free life disallows me the joy of tasting her ice creams! Luckily I had some before giving up dairy and I will always remember how divine they are! My girls love going to Jeni's, too. It is the cutest little shop!
me too! great branding and i LOVE the salty caramel!
Yup, I'm a Columbusite and Jeni's is both beautiful AND delicious. My favorite is the wildberry lavender, but I am partial to any of the flower/plant-based ice creams. You should see the stores, they have all of the flavors written on a giant chalkboard and have lovely displays and seating and everyone is super-friendly about letting you try flavors. I took a high school friend there for the first time when she happened to be in C-bus a few weeks ago and she enjoyed it a lot. Glad you've discovered Jeni!
columbus represent! YUMMY! love that they carry the pints at heinen's as well!
Yay Jeni's! Easily the best ice cream I've ever had. If you want/need a dairy free treat, her sorbets are out of this world as well (pear riesling and cherry lambic sorbets = heaven). My waistline is not very happy that I live so close to one of her stores here in Columbus...
Jeni also has a recipe book out now which is getting rave reviews. Here's a review plus a recipe from The Kitchn: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/book-reviews/savannah-buttermint-ice-cream-recipe-review-of-jenis-splendid-ice-creams-at-home-by-jeni-britton-bauer-150303
In summary, totally worth the $12.
I live across the street from Jeni's and it really is such a treat! They use local farm ingredients and their flavors are unique and delicious. I've sent a 6 pack as a wedding gift and it was a huge hit.
Oh my goodness! It's so fun that so many of you live near to Jeni's! I'm more than just a little bit jealous. Hope you'll go have a scoop for me. :-)
I love Jeni's, it's one of the things I miss most about Columbus. The pear reisling sorbet and the sweet corn/black raspberry are my favorite!
so good! my fav is backyard mint + wildberry lavender!
Another fellow Buckeye. I work about 5 mins from Jeni's & luv luv luv it! How exciting to see this featured here.
A Jeni's just opened on the east side of Cleveland and I've been meaning to go! I'm a west sider, so it's a bit of a hike, but I know it will be worth it! Thanks for the post!
just found out from my mom that one opened in my home town of chagrin falls, ohio and i can't wait to get there once we make the 11 hour trek from newport, ri. the branding for jeni's is sick!
It really is worth the $12! I was in Columbus last summer and I was there, oh ... every night : ) I love the salty caramel with their dark chocolate.
I recently moved to Columbus, and can't get enough of Jeni's. I also happened to meet the designer who branded Jeni's through a close friend who used to work at the same small design company. The ice cream is fantastic, plus the interiors of the stores are drool-worthy as well!
Aside from the fact that this ice cream is THE most delicious ever. Jeni is a brilliant business woman and I am beyond envious of her talent & success in that arena. She has a book available on Amazon and it has her ice cream recipes in it. I highly recommend it!
We just got a Jeni's in Nashville & I'm obsessed. It's so good! I actually just received her cookbook in the mail yesterday & can't wait to read it.
My friend Chris just sent me 4 cartons in the mail (as in literally just minutes ago) and I've already tasted the Pistachio & Honey and nearly fainted from the goodness! Yummo! Next on my list...her cookbook. It looks amazing! xo Ez
I love this blog so much. Each post is always delightful! Even though I live all the way in Texas my boyfriend saw how excited I was about this place and is going to order me the flavor of my choice. I hope one day when I begin to travel that I can stop here and experience the place. Thank you Ez
Horay! I am from Columbus and crave Jeni's. Salty Caramel is the best!!
