A Perfectly Wonderful Rainy Blueberry Morning
Hello lovelies! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. On Saturday the majority of my family got together for a morning of blueberry picking at a farm about an hour away from my home. Blueberry picking is something that I've been obsessed with the idea of since I was a kid (Blueberries for Sal was my favorite book), but had only actually done once previously. To say I was excited would be an understatement.
The forecast called for rain but we were determined to pick buckets-full regardless. It turned out to be the perfect day. We picked for about 15 minutes and then the rain began. By that time we were already having so much fun nobody wanted to stop. Even my little 8 month nephew was enjoying himself (reaching out and picking his own berries).
Some of the beautiful people in my family: My daughter, my nephew, one of my sweet sisters, and another one of my lovely sisters...basking in the wonderful rain.
Dork alert. I couldn't resist, and brought one of my empty Bonne Maman jars with me to use as a photo prop. As soon as we arrived at the berry farm I spotted a table covered with a charming tablecloth and it ended up becoming the backdrop for this last shot (one of my faves). xo Ez

I've never picked blueberries - but I have picked other berries - I find it difficult not eating most of your pickings?
Love the pictures of your family enjoying the activity, rain and each other. How lucky you are to have them so close by now.
Nothing dorky about thinking ahead! GREAT pics that make me want to get out and do some picking of my own. Looks like it was a fun family day.
I wish we could grow them here! I grew them in England, but think it's just too hot and dry here in Spain! I miss them, haven't had fresh blues for 7 years!
absolutely beautiful pictures, as usual!
it looks like a wonderful day ... love your photos, as always!
I love that last picture!!! I would have done the same thing, haha.
I have a U-pick location close to me but haven't been before. I will have to check it out!
I love these pictures and that you used the Bonne Maman jar!
Beautiful post! Beautiful family!
Awesome photos. I just went blueberry picking in Covington, LA about a week and a half ago for the first time. I love it and it will now be a yearly event!
I am so jealous! I just paid $8.00 for 4.4ozs of blueberries here in Sydney! That's approx $6.65 in US dollars.
Beautiful pictures of a fun family outing. I'm so glad things seem to be going well for you since your move back home. Being close to family is such a precious gift.
Thank you all for stopping by and taking the time to leave such nice comments! You've all really made my week!

oh lucky girls!!!
I'm so jealous! We have two blueberry shrubs in a half-wine barrel but they only produce enough for "snacking". This year I'm freezing them as I pick them so hopefully I'll have enough to make something with! I can't imagine how great it would be to be able to pick pounds of them at a time! How wonderful!
