Buy or DIY: Studded Converse

I've been having a bit of a mini obsession with metal studded accessories lately (I have another stud related post coming up later this week).  Because of this I have fallen in love with these awesome Stud Embellished Sneakers from Singer 22.  If they were within my budget they'd be hanging out in my closet already...but since they're not I thought that perhaps I might try to DIY my own pair of studded Chucks.  Clearly making these would take some effort...but I already have an old pair of Converse that I can experiment around with and Kit Kraft Inc. offers studs in all different styles and finishes to choose from.  These silver studs are only 5.50 for a pack of 100!  Whether buying or d.i.y.ing is your thing...enjoy! xo Ez

Saw a DIY for those over at Cut Out + Keep last month = awesome : http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/studded-sneaks

I'm gonna say DIY. Just cause I like doing things with my hands and you can put your own little spin on it.

Oh, I like these! The hot new trend where I live is customized Converse, you can get your name or really anything embroidered on them, I think they do it at the Converse web site. So cool!

It really hurts your thumbs! I studded my jeans pockets once. I really want to try it on my converses. I think it'd be easier if you had a stud gun. (Apparently those exist!)

Ooo I am not sure I will ever get over this trend. I studded a sweatshirt and a wallet (which I gave as a gift) and both were fun and easy. I highly recommend buying an awl, it will make it so much easier!

I posted about the sweatshirt project here: http://thelastrenaissancestudiesmajor.blogspot.com/2009/12/diy-stud-edition.html

Did the same thing 3 days ago. SO EASY!!!! Bought 8mm silver pyramid studs on Ebay (500 for $14.00) & copied the same pattern as the pic on Singer22! Practiced on a pair of black Converse that I already owned. Took about 4 hours & only needed a small screwdriver to bend the prongs in (very important to bend each in & press flat). Turned out fabulous! My 10 year old niece is ecstatic! I'm finishing a pair for her this weekend!

Luckily, this season designers have added a little more fashion to their swimwear -- and some pieces will even feel more like blouses than swimsuits. "Designers are using more fabric than I've ever seen before," Glass says.cheap authentic Louis Vuitton bags

Trends you can expect to see: strapless and one-shouldered swimsuits; layering, draping and details such as metallic or wooden beading; neutral colors, but also bold, colorful prints.Louis Vuitton Handbags
