My Life
Yesterday was the first day of Fall-like weather we've had. I was so excited to wake up and see clouds... I immediately put on my favorite hoodie and cozy pants. After a summer of temperatures over 110 F I couldn't be happier that Fall is finally coming. Later in the morning after I dropped my daughter off at school and killed it at the gym (literally I really can't move much today), I came home, blogged for a while and them decided to use these sweet little apples from my Mom's tree to make an Apple Crisp. It turned out so well... that's always nice when that happens. Then it was time for more blogging, a little project I'm working on, and some tea and more apple crisp (good thing I went to the gym).
Does Fall make you feel like baking and sipping tea in your cozy clothes too? If so, then you might like these little recipe cards I created for your enjoyment. They are actually blank other than the design so you could easily use them as postcards or for little notes to mail to your friends. There are also some little envelope seals included too in case you choose to use it for that purpose. Just dab a little glue on the back and you're all set. Two colors available:

So, what did your day look like today? I'd love to know. xo Ez

I heart to bake, but you can't beat the ease of Trader Joe's pumpkin bread. So today it was a slice of warm pumpkin bread with a cup of Chai Tea Latte (also from Trader Joe's). Wonderfully Fall.
Your pictures of your day are lovely -- it makes me want to get my husband to bake some apple pie ;)
APPLE CRISP (from The Joy of Cooking)Six to Eight Servings
Select a tart, crisp apple to balance the sweetness of the topping. Gravenstein, Pippin, and Braeburn are good choices, but local apples in season may be the best choice of all.
Position a rack in the lower third of the oven. Preheat oven to 375 F. have ready and unbuttered 2-quart earthenware or glass baking dish, 2 inches deep.
Peel and core:8 Medium apples (about 2.5 pounds)Cut the apples in half and then into 1-inch chunks. Spread them evenly in the baking dish.
Combine:3/4 cup all-purpose flour3/4 cup sugar (I used Organic Evaporated Cane Juice Sugar from Trader Joe's - it has a really rich flavor that is perfect for this dessert.)1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Add:8 Tablespoons (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces.
Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Scatter the topping evenly over the fruit. Tap the dish on the counter once or twice to settle in the crumbs. Bake until the topping is golden brown, the juices are bubbling, and the apples are tender when pierced with a skewer, 50 to 55 minutes. Serve warm or chilled.
