Charlie Bit Me!

Here in the States we have a bit of an obsession with the British accent... I can safely assume that the Brit's have no such fascination with ours.  Do any of you lovely British readers want to confirm this?!

In any case... this video and then the spoof made from it just crack me up to no end... half of what makes the original so cute is Charlie's accent (see I'm a sucker too).  If you've already seen it (and you probably have), please forgive me.

Enjoy the original:

...And the spoof:

I love this video, I have been sending it to everyone I know. I think the appeal besides cute Charlie is definitely the accent.

This video is everywhere. They even have bumper stickers of it on Facebook. It is just so cute.

It's been played a lot here (in England) too. I saw the parents - with their two sons - on a chat show here recently. The baby is about two years old now and the parents are expecting another baby.

The attitude about accents is the same here. I still have my American accent (even though I've lived in England since 1987) and a lot of Brits react to my accent by saying how much they like it.

I love how everyone in the US is fascinated by my English accent (though sometimes I get the impression it's more intimidating than adorable). And I like to throw in words like 'fortnight' and 'midday' just to seem even more quaint. Sometimes I think I should a voiceover showreel together, there are just so many English accents on telly.

My tiny daughter currently speaks like Lola of Charlie and Lola fame but is sadly trying to lose her English accent as fast as possible so as to fit in in pre-school(and yes, it's an English accent not a British one, the Scottish and Welsh accents are VERY different).

I'm afraid I don't think most British people find a generic American accent terribly charming, mostly because we hear them all the time on the TV or in movies. Funnily enough the accent I like best is a real Dolly Parton southern drawl...

Hilarious! speaking of accents, here's a fascinating youtube where a woman imitates 21 different foreign accents one after the other and she is dead on! quite amazing:

I think this was the first time I actually heard what I must sound like to non-American ears.

The original is still the funniest/sweetest thing I have ever seen. While the spoof is just darn funny!
