Chic for Cheap: A Love Inspired Look

With Valentine's Day quickly approaching it seemed fitting to have this week's chic for cheap post revolve around the theme of love.  I wanted to pull together a look that was flirty and romantic but in a subtle pretty way.  I don't know if I succeeded... but I'd wear this look any day!

Chic for Cheap: An Art Inspired Look

I passed on posting a chic for cheap look last week, but I'm happy to be back at it again... this time with a look inspired by the wonderful work of Apak.  This print in particular really captured my eye with it's gorgeous colors and sweet bird motif.  I have to confess that I was also looking for a way to incorporate this large chunky necklace into an outfit, because huge strands of beads are my latest personal obsession.  I think they are the prefect thing to kick a jeans and t-shirt ensemble up a notch or two.  The strands I have at home are in aqua blue and kelly green.  So much fun.

Of course Melissa and I always love it when you play along, so if you feel inspired to
participate, just leave a link in the comment section below to an
outfit you've put together using Polyvore or your own editing
software.  Have fun!  Don't forget to check out Melissa's ensemble here.

Chic for Cheap: Thanksgiving with Family

Wild Strawberries Earrings (by me) at Wren & Chickadee * Belle Tote by Christy Studio * First Edition Fleece in Grey at American Eagle * Mia Slub Tee at Delias * 77 Straight Jeans in antique destroyed wash also from American Eagle * Converse Ox in black also at Delias

Melissa and I decided that with Thanksgiving coming up in just a couple of days that today we would create our chic for cheap looks based off of what we'll be wearing to dinner with our families on Thursday.  It would be fun to say that I'm getting all glammed up, but the truth is that I love holidays with my family because I don't have to.  I just go as my casual relaxed self... and it's perfect!  I featured my earrings (for example - shameless self-promotion aside) because I really will be wearing them.  I may trade out my Chucks for a pair of flats depending on my mood Thursday morning, but other than that this look is pretty much what I'll be wearing.

If you celebrate Thanksgiving, what chic and cheap outfit will you be wearing?  Show us by putting a look together with Polyvore (or your own editing software) and leave a link to your ensemble in the comments section below.

Color Crush: Dove Gray + Silver

Group One: 1. Vintage Inspired Flap Dress by Lamixx 2. Kate Grenier Carpe Diem Wall Hanging at Greer Chicago 3. Porcelain Dove Necklace by Revisions Design Studio 4. Roxie Heels by Type Z at Zappos 5. 5 Year Diary at Fred Flare 6. One Ceramic Bird Wing by Sara Paloma Pottery 7. Silver Rabbit Lapel Pin at Fred Flare

This one's for you Melissa (Melissa is also currently crushing on gray)!  I love gray and always have.  It's the perfect neutral... and a great stand-in for black.  It works well with every color and pairs especially well with little pops of color such as a fuchsia scarf or yellow tights.  Love it!

Group Two: 8. Tempo Velvet Pillow in Graphite from Crate and Barrel 9. Flourish Dove Pillow by Thomas Paul, at Pillows and Throws 10. Petiole Flatware from Pottery Barn 11. Orange Blossom Hand & Body Wash from Mor Cosmetics 12. Roost Porcelain Feather Ornaments at Velocity Art And Design 13. Kat Von D. Eyeshadow Duo at Sephora

Now I have to work on an assignment for my daughter's school whilst eating fresh pumpkin bread that I just pulled out of the oven.  Yum!
