Good Taste: Corn & Potato Soup with Queso Fresco

I've always been a huge fan of soup. My daughter on the other hand could do without. That is until I discovered this amazing South American recipe over on Pinterest a few weeks ago. Since then she has requested it for just about every meal, including school lunches (I've made it at least 7 times in the past couple of weeks). I see so many more tasty batches in the near future that I'm very seriously considering learning how to make my own Queso Fresco (it's pretty pricey at Whole Foods).

I adapted the original recipe quite a bit to suit our tastes, and have included my version here for you. If you prefer a version with peas, more potatoes, and less Queso Fresco...then be sure to check out the original from TheKitchn. Either way...your taste buds are in for a treat.

Enjoy! xo Ez

High + Low: The Lace Dress

After my last post, I got a comment from Amy N. seeking help finding an alternative to Anthropologie's Sunblaze Lace Dress or the Lilly Pulitzer Moss Dress. Lace dresses are everywhere, so finding one isn't difficult. But not all lace dresses are created equal, and you'll be quick to find that there's a fine line between classy and cheap. Amy's picks, though different in colour and style, share a few factors that helped in my search: both are two toned and featured a bold floral or scroll lace, reminecent of battenburg lace. I managed to find a few options that don't look anywhere near as inexpensive as they are. Hopefully, this helps in your search, Amy!

Remember to comment with your highs, and perhaps you'll see it on the next High + Low!

Inspired By: Photographer Kevin Russ

The sort of photos I capture with my phone are hardly the sort you'd want printed on your wall (unless half-blurry pet snapshots amuse you). Photographer Kevin Russ however has taken iPhoneography and turned it into an art! His images evoke strong feelings of nostalgia for me...bringing to mind vivid memories of my childhood spent in Montana, Idaho and California. Suffice to say, I fell in love with his work...and then doubly so when I later discovered that it is all captured with a phone. I mean wow! Talk about awe-inspiring! Check out more of Kevin's photography in his print shop.
