Creature of Comfort: Susyjack*
Hello lovelies... and happy Friday! Today begins a new feature here on CC titled Creature of Comfort. Each week I will be asking my favorite artist's and bloggers to share their current inspirations with us all, as well as a short little interview. I don't know about you, but I absolutely love to know what inspires the people who inspire me most of all (I have a feeling you probably do too). And so without further delay, please welcome our first Creature of Comfort: Susy of Susyjack*
Q: What is one thing that never fails to inspire you?
A: Honestly, it's going to the hardware store, or to the bead and findings stores here in NYC. I love all of the industrial items-- D Rings, Pony Beads, Raw Canvas tool bags... all of these items help me to come up with new products, or to think of ways to add to the ones I am already working on. And, the antique jewelry at the Met is always incredible to see. I'm always amazed at the beautiful shapes in handmade jewelry.
Q: How are you currently incorporating your inspirations into your blog/designs/art?
A: My blog helps me document what I'm enjoying and feeling really inspired by...but it also helps me figure out where I might be able to go that's new. I love items that are pared down, industrial, useful and minimal, but also beautiful and delightful. I think that balance is magical; I try and hold my designs to that standard...looking at my inspirations...the artists and objects I really connect with helps to remind me what I really want to reach for.
A: All of the indulgences I can think of involve food! It's either my coffee in the morning (I love that first sip!)...or, a leisurely, delicious lunch with a friend...or a really, really satisfying, savory dinner at the end of a long day. I absolutely love going to the specialty cheese shop downtown when it's cold, picking out a few cheeses we haven't tried yet...then heading home, warming up, and trying them out with a good glass of wine.
A: 1.Naps...I love to take naps in the afternoon. I am chronically lethargic right after lunch.
2.Great Shoes...I have no willpower when it comes to shoes. Especially boots. They have the power to rejuvenate all my old clothes!
3.Things that smell good...I love perfumes, spices, fresh flowers...and I always take the time to stop and smell something yummy; whether it's peaches at the deli or peonies in the park.
A:I think it's...to indulge curiosities...to use imagination and ask 'what if'. I probably don't have a motto, but I always loved the phrase 'Live your way into the answer'.

Yesterday it was almost 100 degrees in my town, making it almost impossible to believe that Fall is actually in effect. Thankfully it's cooled off today and is delightfully (almost) fall-like... which of course has me inspired about even more Autumnal beauties. Are you experiencing any signs of the season around your neck of the woods?
