Off Topic...

Taking a short break from my eco-themed posting to bring you this:

Yesterday I was tagged by Kelly (of the lovely Design Crush blog) to share a peak at what's inside my makeup bag.  If you'd like to play along... consider yourself tagged.

My Foundation:  I've really pared down my makeup usage in recent years, so I don't currently wear a foundation.  When I did it was Clinique Almost Makeup SPF 15.

My Mascara:  I can never make up my mind when it comes to mascara.  At the moment I'm using Loreal Double Extend Mascara.

Day Cream:  Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (wish they made this with SPF).  I really need to be wearing a suncare lotion.

My Beauty Product Brand:  Clinique (most of the time).

My Essential Beauty Product:  Clinique Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer - You have never felt soft skin until you try this magic serum!

My Favorite Makeup Product: Coconut Lip Gloss from a local store (I don't know who makes it, but it's the greatest).

My Perfume:  Coconut Lime Verbena body splash (sounds so 7th grade) from Bath & Body Works.

Three Products (besides solar) to bring on a Deserted Island: I'm copying Kelly and saying toothbrush, deodorant, and sunscreen!

Woman I admire for her beauty:  Cameron Diaz.  She has a sort of effortless beauty about her... and a personal style that I love.

Woman with the Best Sense of Style:  My grandmother.  She radiates beauty in a way that not many ever do.  She is always polished and put together without ever seeming to try.  I love her with all my heart and I hope to be like her one day.

My Ultimate Dream:  This pretty much sums it up.

How Do I Define Womanhood: Strength, Grace, Passion, Resilience

My Favorite Fashion Publication:  Lucky Magazine

Thanks for asking me to play along Kelly!

Now & Later

This might be a broad translation of the "going-green" theme, but I wanted to touch upon the idea of purchasing fashionable pieces that will have staying power for seasons to come (the more use you get out of your clothing the better it is for your wallet and the environment).

I like the idea of buying super affordable basics (such as the dresses in this post), with the intention of layering them with other pieces when the weather cools down (how cute would these dresses be, layered over a pretty top, dark tights, and some t-strap heels for the fall).  I think that it's really all about the accessories you choose when you are wearing pieces as simple as these... so have fun with it!

Tip: before you go out and buy a new Spring or Fall (depending upon where you live in the world) wardrobe, take stock of your closet's contents and play around with what you have.  Mix and match things together in a unique way... then once you are satisfied, bag up what you will not be using again and donate it to a local women's shelter or other charitable organization.  You can then (in good conscience) shop for items you are lacking... with a fresh outlook!

Wooden It Be Loverly

Hello again lovely lovely readers!  I hope your weekend was packed full with wonder and fun!  We had an unseasonably chilly weekend at our house (remember last week it was almost 100 degrees).  My daughter entertained herself by "adopting" a gopher in our yard (his name is Arnold)... and she spent hours sitting near his burrow feeding him celery and leaves from our yard.  Very cute!  Then I finally managed to get my office/studio space cleaned and organized (in anticipation of a new little project of mine that I'll be telling you about soon). In any case... I'm glad you are here!  Thanks for coming by!

As you may know it's Earth Day on Tuesday, so I'm going to be focusing many of my posts this week on eco-friendly products.  This day in age we don't have to sacrifice function or beauty to be ecologically conscious... and I think that's great! If you know of an amazing company or product that you think other Creatures of Comfort would like to know about... please drop me a line!
