Printable Action Plan Sheets - Let's Do This Thang

A few weeks ago I was chatting with a dear friend of mine and inevitably our conversation wound around to a familiar place...what do I really want to achieve and accomplish both in the short term and long term for my business and life. I have a lot of ideas, but find myself easily overwhelmed when at the end of the day I look back and feel as though I've gotten nowhere closer to achieving any of them.

But then it occurred to me that I have actually not been seeing things correctly. Because honestly there are small ways that I am working towards my dreams every day. They might not be news-worthy or groundbreaking, but they are something...and I have decided that instead of berating myself for not making it all in one giant leap (how silly is that anyhow), that I am going to instead focus on treating myself positively as I work towards accomplishing my goals...even if it's just one tiny accomplishment at a time. It reminds me of that lovely quote: "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." - Lao-tzu

So to help me keep this positive outlook in mind I created an little action plan sheet (and a card for my wallet too) with a motivating reminder attached. The reminder is simple: That today I will only worry about doing at least one thing that brings me closer to achieving my dreams. I'm going to use the blank portion to write down what I did each day that supports a dream of mine. It could be something tiny like: "created a new painting," or something larger like: "paid for new logo design." Then at the end of each month I will look back and be able to see all the little steps I took in the right direction. A cause to celebrate for sure!

Do you want to join me?! My guess it that you have goals and dreams too...maybe some so large that they feel almost impossible. But let's commit to working towards them one step at a time together (while being nice to ourselves in the process). Shall we? I don't mean that you have to share your dreams openly here, but if you want to print out your own action plan sheets I've made them available for you to download and print as you'd like (downloads will begin immediately when you click the buttons below). I hope they will be useful to you. Now let's do this thang! xo Ez

The wallet sized action plans below are perfect for remembering your goals as you go about your busy day. These are an especially useful reminder for me to save my money for the things that matter most to me, instead of impulse buying so often. They print three (one of each color) to a page.

These are great! I love them just for everyday things that weigh huge on my mind. I always feel like I don't have time to do all the fun things I should with my kids. This is a great way to reflect on all the positive things you do. Love it, Thanks!

This is so awesome. My husband is an incredible drummer and loves recording and producing music. He works for a uniform company during the day, but is working toward owning his own music studio. I tell him all the time that if you have a plan and make small steps toward your goal then it will eventually become a reality. I'm going to print off the gray wallet size for him. Thanks so much for this. Love your blog :)

Love this idea! It's so hard to get caught up looking at the big picture rather than embracing all the little steps that are necessary to get there. Thanks for sharing!

these are great, but I'm a bit worried that at the end of the month I will still be disappointed that the little steps don't add up to as much as I thought they would/should/could... oh, I better work on my attitude as well!

thanks for the download xx

These are so wonderful! I printedone out one each for my work colleagues, laminated them, and stuck them near their computers. We work in child protection and family intervention, so we can use all the inspiration we can get! Thanks for brightening our days!

This is a great post. I have actually been thinking along the same lines - you just have such a better way of putting this into words!

Ez, these are great!! I love the idea--I'm with you, I feel that I have accomplished very little at the end of the day, even though I have accomplished something. I think these would make EXCELLENT post-it notes!! I can see them now all over the walls in my office. Or on a calendar white board filled up with one post-it-note a day. I would buy them. Seriously!

I keep a todo list at all times, broken into categories for the different things that I'm working on. So helpful!

Thank you so much, this is just what I need! I have my first show next month and spent last night in a panic about everything I haven't done, but now I am going to try and turn it around to see everything I have done, and use your plans to get through the rest. You have definately put a smile on this girls face this morning!

A great idea for EVERYONE! Witty and wise!

Thank you so much for creating them! I must say this is a really great help to make me focus on a lot of things, especially when I'm too overwhelmed with the plannings in my head. Sometimes when you are too focus on the big picture, you kinda forget those tiny steps (which seems insignificant) but they are the one that are going to get you closer to your dreams..

Many thanks again :D
p/s: and the reward after those sounds tempting!

Love this post - I'm really big on getting my goals down too so thanks so much for the printables.
I wanted to share with you a similar idea I had that I posted about here: http://cathyb.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/06/shimmer-and-some-white-hot-truth.html.html Edit
and this is using this random little application online called http://www.blyberg.net/card-generator/
which I love cause you can make scribbles on it as well as put you goals, lists, whatever. I used it to print up little cards that have what I call my "revealations". Just thought I'd share. Have a great day.

This is a great idea. Just to keep track of the little things that aid us in our dreams. We easily become so overwhelmed by how much there is to do and this reminds us how much we actually do get done.

Love this. It's often so hard for me to acknowledge the small steps.
