Souvenir Foto School: Day Six - A for Anatomy of an Alstroemeria

So I ended up skipping day five of the Foto School challenge yesterday. It was my daughter's birthday and I just couldn't bear to make her wait around while I tried to set up a photo set for the day. So anyhow I'm back on track today and am excited to share these beautiful flowers that my daughter bought me on her birthday (yesterday). She surprised me by taking up the same tradition that I have for giving my Mom flowers on my birthday. So incredibly sweet (I might have cried a little bit)!

These pretty blooms are called Alstroemeria. They actually remind me a lot of lilies...but they don't make me sneeze in the same way (thank goodness). I decided that it would be interesting to first show them in their usual form, and then take a shot of them in their disassembled "anatomical" state. I really love the second shot, and am excited to have nearly completed one week of Foto school. Woohoo!

If you'd like you can also find all my images in individual and diptych form for this month-long class challenge over in my flickr album. | Souvenir Foto School is offered by Besotted Brand.

I love the idea of giving mom flowers on your birthday. My birthday was just on Saturday, and I was saying how insane it is that moms labor all day on the day their child is born and then labor all day on their child's birthday making a yummy family dinner!

How sweet and thoughtful of her. The pictures are quite excellent as well!

What a sweet tradition! I love alstroemeri, too, for the same reason--they're pretty in their own right, but also have that lily-look without the sneezes! I really love the peachy color of this bunch. They make spring seem that much closer!

Love the disassembled photo. Alstromeria, also known as the "Peruvian Lily", last up to 2 weeks in the vase, and comes in the most amazing colors. Good job!

EZ, these are my favorite shots so far! I love the colors. They make me happy. And the second pic, with the parts all laid out.....that is the coolest idea. Beautiful.

That is such a beautiful tradition, I love that she has already picked it up at such a young age. I also really like your photo of the flower pulled apart, something really evocative about it.
