Farewell to our Friend
Today we learned that my family's dog Tasha, passed away. My daughter and I feel so fortunate that just yesterday evening we happened to travel out to see my folks, and were able to see her and tell her how much she was loved. Her health had been failing rapidly over the past few weeks and she was no longer able to stand, walk or eat. She was suffering, and I prayed the thing you never want to...that the end would come quickly so that her pain would finally cease. I held her head in my arms and told her that her job here was done...that we would be okay when she was ready to go. She gently wagged her tail and I knew she understood.
You could argue that all dogs are good dogs, but Tasha truly was the best dog anyone could ask for. She gave all of herself to our family and asked for nothing in return. She was the most loyal and cuddly of friends (with only a small penchant for killing chickens—she was a dog after all). We will miss her golden smile and her full-body wags. Our hearts are heavy with sadness today for the loss of our furry friend, but she has left a paw print on our hearts that will never fade. We are so grateful for this little beam of sunshine and the many years we had with her. We will miss you sweet Tasha! xo Ez + Miss K

So sorry to you and your family. It is such a difficult thing to lose a pet.
Oh, Ez! My heart goes out to you and your family. Tasha sounds like she was a wonderful friend, and you couldn't have eulogized her in a more loving way.
So sorry to hear. It feels so awful to lose a pet, maybe because all they give you all their life is exactly that unconditional love you got from Tasha.
that's so very sad. losing a pet is one of the most emotional things to go through. i wish they could live as long as we do! you're little eulogy is so sweet and wonderful, and i bet tasha knew how much you, your daughter, and family loved and cherished her.
It's the hardest thing in the world, to say good bye to a good friend, even if they are furry kind. My condolences to you and your family. Tasha was a beautiful dog.
Labs make such wonderful family dogs. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you guys were able to visit her and that she lived a full long life.
so sorry for your loss ez. he was a beautiful, and im sure he knew how much he was loved. xoxo
I just wanted to take a moment to thank each one of you for taking the time to leave such kind words of support and comfort. I was able to bring some flowers for Tasha to place on her grave yesterday, and it helped so much to just know that she is no longer suffering. Thank you again for your kindness. xo Ez
i'm sorry for the loss of your Tasha, ez. i hope she's resting in peace with no more suffering.
I just cried reading this. We had to put our beloved, wonderful dog Kirby down on Friday. He had been battling lymphoma for the past 4 months and simply couldn't fight it anymore.
I agree 100% with your sentiment that all dogs are good dogs, but sometimes we are fortunate enough to come across a truly special dog. One that is beyond a pet, or an animal- a true kindred spirit. Kirby was one of those to the highest degree, and from the sound of it, Tasha was too. He was my 11th birthday present- my neighbor found this goofy and huge puppy (he was a great dane/lab mix) roaming through the metro park while walking his dog. I begged and pleaded for my parents to let us keep him, but once they met him and got a face full of sweet puppy kisses they were hooked. It wasn't until I left for college that I realized how much he had aged too, and sadly I didn't get to say a last goodbye. I cherish the time we spent together, and I'm so happy to hear of people like you that appreciate the imprint wonderful doggies leave on our heart. I'm so, so unbelievably sorry for your loss of such a sweet girl.
Thank you so much Angie!
Sara I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Kirby. He sounds like an incredible pet and friend. It hurts so much to say goodbye, but it is comforting to know that we get to hold their memories with us always. Nothing can take that away.
Lots of hugs to you. xo Ez
EZ and Sara - I am so sorry for what you are going through and for your losses. May your lovely friends rest in peace.
Sorry to hear this, Ez. Every time I hear about a beloved pet passing, it certainly makes me think of my own. They are such a blessing, each one of them, and bring so much joy to our lives. I'm thinking of you and your parents.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss -- xo
I'm so sorry for your loss. What a lovely girl she was, all sunshiney and golden with that sweet face, touched with white. My Bubby-dog has that same touch of white from age (he's 15). I know he doesn't have a lot of time left. It's heartbreaking to lose a pet, especially when it's a special heart-pet like Tasha. I hope that in time the tears will turn to joy and laughter filled with beautiful memories.

Oh I am so sorry for your loss. Tasha is beautiful. When we lost our beautiful Emma last November blogging about her definitely helped and a dear friend offered us wisdom that has stayed with me... that our sorrow is our love. My thoughts are with you and your family as you learn how to miss Tasha.
Got so teary eyed reading this. Poor dear Tasha. Such a precious thing. She's at peace now. I know she'll be waiting for you all in Heaven. xoxo
So sorry to hear this. My family cat passed away just recently. It was quick and kind of surprising. And so so sad, so I can truly relate to you. :(
Aww, I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious dog, Ez. Made me teary reading this. Glad you were there in her last moments. Big hugs! xo
So wonderfully (bitter)sweet.
She was incredibly lovely, like most dogs are, especially Labradors....and especially dogs that are taken care of by people who trully love and take care of them, like you and your family did. She was as lucky as you have been. Sorry for your loss my dear Ez, I understand, we lost our Binca this summer after 18 years with her....
Sending you love, good thoughts & warm hugs,
Iro {Ivy}
