Giveaway Time - Drawing Nature: A Journal by Jill Bliss
Hello lovely friends! It's been quite a long while since I last hosted a giveaway, so when the awesome folks at Chronicle Books asked if I'd like to be part of a blogger book tour and give a copy of Drawing Nature to one of you lucky ducks...I couldn't say yes fast enough. I also received my own copy to check out ahead of time, and I have to tell you that whoever wins this beautiful book is truly in for a treat! Are you excited, or what?!!
Portland-based artist Jill Bliss has been tantalizing us with her exquisite renderings of the natural world for years...and now she finally shows us how it's done in this wonderful hands-on journal. But this isn't a book simply for the artistically gifted...the beauty of this art journal is how Jill provides easy to follow guidance that is meant for all (artists and artistically-challenged alike). I especially appreciate how the emphasis of this journal is all about discovering who you are artistically through the practice of drawing simple natural forms and patterns (no right or wrongs ways to go about it). But perhaps my most favorite touch of all might be the little motivational captions and inspirational prompts written at the bottom of each journal page...thoughts to inspire and keep you going (and we all need those from time to time, don't we). All in all, Drawing Nature: A Journal is a beautiful book for anyone who loves to draw and/or journal (plus it looks great sitting out on your desk)...and it would make the perfect gift (I'm planning to share the copy I received with my little sister).
Take a little peek at this short video interview with Jill Bliss for a more in-depth look at the book and what it's all about. If you'd like you can purchase your own copy (or one for a friend) at Chronicle Books, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble.

i would love to win this journal to gift to my five year old nature-drawing-freak of a daughter. and i say freak in the nicest possible way. she is never without a pencil and sketchbook. sandra x
hello, i am in because i love drawing stuff from different points of reality! jill's art works are beautiful as well as her studio
A beautiful book to gift to an artistic, nature loving fourth grader I know. Here's to Jill's ability to open our eyes and see the world around us.
i'm a naturalist at a nature center, and we actually teach a nature journaling class, so i'd loveloveLOVE to win a copy and see if it might actually work as our textbook. it sure is pretty! thanks so much for hosting such a lovely giveaway.

I'd love to get a copy of this beautiful journal. First of all I'm a nature girl. I was born and raised countryside Finland and I'm especially in love with trees (birches are my sisters). I'm sort of artistic, but I have this little problem: I tend to be a perfectionist. That's a problem, cause it causes blocks and sometimes prevents me from creating something inspired. I think this could help me with it.
Thank you for the chance!
This seems a great opportunity to pick up drawing and painting for me, what a great book!

I am an amateur, but still, as every other artist, share frustration of extracting idea to pencil and paper. Nature has never been a field I've touched upon in drawing, and this Journal would definitely be an incentive for me to start fresh. Thank you, Chronicle Books, and Jill Bill for this opportunity!~
I would love this journal for keeping track of my crafting adventures! I have another of Jill Bliss' journals, and it's beautiful.
I took some art classes in high school and loved it. But, almost 10 years later, I keep meaning to work on my drawing and painting again but never get around to it. I think with spring here now, this book would be the perfect motivation for me. Not to mention it would mean I'd have another excuse to spend the day outdoors!
this one would be for me! i've been playing with sketching and drawing again, and saw this in B&N a few weeks ago. it is a fabulous book, and i would love the opportunity to win it.
For years, I would have loved to draw but never got round to it. I did a lot of painting, yes, but drawing always seemed so complicated. Now I have a big, big garden of my own and I'm itching to draw all the beauty it displays through the seasons. I like the style of Jill Bliss' book. It is so pretty and it seems that she's teaching how to draw in a relaxed way. No right, no wrong, just discover your own style. That's how I learnt to paint, by the way: our teacher encouraged us to do it our way, giving technical hints now and then.
I want to win this book so that I can complete the drawing lessons in it! It is such a beautiful way to practice drawing.
What a beautiful book! I would absolutely love to have this book as an amateur artist who loves drawing nature!
Her journal is stunning! Her studio is stunning. I'm trying to set mine up at the moment and she is so inspiring. I love her style. I'd love to win it because books of this calibre are hard to track down
I will love to have this wonderfull book full of inspiration!! A perfect gift for myself! It would be a little help to me to draw again!
Mucha suerte a todos! saludos from the lucky island (Tenerife).
I consider myself artistic but...can't draw! I have to learn how to draw!
We are having a beautiful spring in this part of England and I'd love to learn how to record what is burgeoning all around me without using a camera - these techniques produce really beautiful results that I think even a non-arty person like myself could achieve...I'd love to win this book.
this is on my wish list for a perfect summer thing to do!
I would love to have this journal because I am currently in graduate school studying art therapy and Jill Bliss's journals and artwork are a constant source of inspiration for my own artwork and for the work that I do with my clients.
