A Photo's Worth: The Festival of Colors
{photograph by Rupak De Chowdhuri/Reuters}
Saturday night I came across this exquisite photograph of young children in India celebrating Spring's arrival in a yearly cultural festival called Holi (Festival of Colors). I can't describe the feeling that came over me when it opened on my screen. Something like a mix between having the air sucked out of my lungs (but not painful) and a cool calming breeze on a sweltering day. It caused me to aske myself, "When was the last time we celebrated the changing seasons (or any other seemingly ordinary event) with such unadulterated joy?" What a beautiful reminder this image is for me...to work towards breathing life in more fully and seeing the world with brighter eyes. xo Ez

I've always been fascinated by this celebration. It's beautiful and such a unifying event. I wish we had more things like this in our culture.
This is probably high on my list on things i miss about living in india. its am AMAZING festival and one that bring everyone together in a really fun way.
there's barely seasons here. it's usually summer-like all year round (:
