In My Imaginary Closet (Part II)

Hello sweets! My actual closet has been filled for years with far to many "throw-away" items (pieces that don't even hold up well enough to donate the following season). For this coming year (and on) I've decided that it's time to start purchasing well-made clothing that I can wear for years to come (time to hone my personal style too). It sounds simple enough, but on the sort of itty-bitty budget I have, owning quality pieces (mind you I'm not even talking about the über labels here) will take time and saving. I suppose that things worth having are worth waiting and working for, right?!

Fortunately I got a jump-start on my mission with the help of a little Christmas money, and was able to get a few of the things I've been really needing/wanting for a bit (I've put a little * following the picks I now have) - the rest is good old inspiration. What's in your imaginary closet today?

  • A new haircut and color. This photo of model Freja Beha Erichsen (found on pinterest) was my haircut inspiration. I couldn't find the photographer info for this shot, so please share if you know. *
  • I've also just discovered that I can finally wear lip color now that my hair is a bit darker. Woohoo. Black Honey Almost Lipstick from Clinique apparently looks good on everyone. *
  • Cashmere Sweater from Uniqlo (found via pinterest and A Cup of Jo). Oh how I love it (but I don't think it's still available - sadness)!
  • Solid Chinos from Scotch & Soda - love the cut of these (be sure to check out the rest of their line too).
  • This might be the ideal bag for me - casual but luxe at the same time.
  • Gold Bar Bracelet - A little something shiny on the wrist never hurt anyone.
  • I finally found my perfect wallet. It is everything I wanted and more (and the price was perfect). *
  • Black Canvas Tretorn Shoes *

Oh, I am right there with you! One of my goals/resolutions this year is also to refine my personal style and begin building a wardrobe that I really truly love. I am in my thirties and I have a baby for crying out loud, I think it is time to stop purchasing throw away clothes! I will certainly be keeping an eye over here, Ez, because I am also drawn to the sort of simple/chic/a bit tomboyish and comfy choices that you favor :) xo Laura

I asked for the Freja haircut too! I love it, except bangs grow fast...

I love everything else here too. I missed out on that sweater too, plus another one I loved at Uniqlo because I wouldn't wait in the line. But anyway, cheers to buying clothes we actually love! Happy New Year!

I agree with you! I need to revamp my closet too, get away from the random pieces that I have and get more into floral dresses, indie skirts look. But yeh, I'm constrained by the budget too... :(

Excellent choices! The colors are so my style! xo
I'm also in agreement with you about investing in quality pieces!
It is my goal to minimize my closet this 2011 and this post is so refreshing!

Great, great closet! I actually used to wear black honey back when I was in hs, I'd forgotten about that color and may have to bring it back!

Happy new year!

I love everything! I too have decided its time to only buy/wear quality and only those pieces I truly love...(bout time since I'm now 55 1/2!). First on my list: new haircut - I've been wearing my hair super long for years, found a picture of me from 14 yrs ago & I love how my hair was back then, so...time for a cut! I wear the same lip color - Black Honey, love, love, love it! Gotta get the shoes, bag & wallet (due for all 3). Off to the mall!
