"Wishes Do Come True" by me
One of the things I missed most during my daughter's and my short stint on the East Coast was the glow of long evening light that I had grown so fond of in California (if you've spent any time on the West Coast, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about). I wasted many a late afternoon lamenting it's absence, knowing that for all my hoping, it would still not show itself (is that silly). Soon after our move to Oklahoma this past Spring my daughter and I took an evening walk (one of our firsts in our new town) and I was ecstatic to see my old friend "Evening Light" once again! This shot is the result of me laying on the ground and basking in its glow.

My favorite time of day, I call it the golden hour.
I'm a West Coast girl, and that same glow makes me over and over again every evening without fail.
So glad you've caught a glimpse of it again!
What a pretty picture, you are right about the lighting it is beautiful. We don't really get that beautiful hazy light here in wales, which is a pity.

Great picture! I´m happy you´ve finally found a place where you and your daughter are happy. I never commented on the post where you wrote about how hard things had been and that you were planning on moving again, but I could feel your sadness and share it!
I love this photo, I actually have it in my Flickr favorites :) A foreign exchange student once told me that in Finland the light in autumn always looks like it's evening, it's so golden. Lately it's been just raining though, so not much light.
Ez, I was born and raised (most of my life other than a few years in Penn.) in the SF Bay Area and even went back to teach high school there. Myself and my little family have recently moved to AZ and I mourn the loss of that "evening light" even with AZ's magnificent sunsets. It's just not the same; there's no water, no green (native to the land), and it gets dark far too early here because they don't have a time change.
Believe me, I understand.
I know EXACTLY what you mean. Growing up on a sheep farm in NZ , the we used to call this part of the day the "gloaming" and it is when all the new lambs would go crazy! Running up and down fence lines, bumps and humps in big groups just loving their life! Now, it's late Spring in New Zealand and down south where I live the days are getting longer and longer which is so delicious! We find ourselves basking in the warm glow until 9pm!
Thanks for supporting my blogging addiction while my own blog was away getting a revamp! I visit most days!
Cheers from the bottom of the world,
Julia :)
I love your photos. Like you I enjoy the evening light. I live on the west coast of Australia so enjoy sunsets on most evenings.
