One Good Thing: Fuji Instax Mini Instant Camera

Right before Christmas I became obsessed when I discovered the Fuji Instax Mini Instant Camera, which is not a classic Polaroid, but very similar (available through Photojojo).  Unfortunately it was too late for me to add it onto my list for Santa, but I did some asking around on Twitter and heard some great things about it in reply.  I can't wait to get my hands on one of these babies (hopefully someday very soon) and give it a whirl.  Have you tried the Fuji Instax Camera out?  If so I'd love to hear more on your experience in the comment section below.  xox Ez

I'd like to hear more too. I am so tempted by this camera! From what I've seen the pictures look great and I like the smaller format of them. A lot of potential I think.

My husband got me one for Christmas... I LOVE IT!!! Seriously. Like, more than a friend. Try eBay! There are some listed on there that come in a package with film! =)

Our family got one for the holiday. They are awesome. The color and texture of the photos is very old school. My 10 year old son loves it ... and so do I. Search on the Internet for it. I was able to get it for $86 including shipping from Unique Photo. The film is pricey. Make sure you get the right film ... sometimes the boxes are confusing. I've been able to get the film at Urban Outfitters, but plan ahead and you can order it online. Also on ebay and etsy, there are some nice photo albums to have on hand so once you start clicking, you immediately have a place for them instead of spreading them out on your counter like ours are right now. I definitely would get one! The next camera on the list would then be the Diana Lomography camera. But maybe you already have one of those!

this was on my wishlist too!! Sadly Santa did not deliver, so I'm planning on ordering it soon. I have a Polaroid and just can't swing the cost of the film anymore.

Hi gave one of these to my honey for Christmas, and he's definitely enjoying it. Though I do think that for myself, I might like to have the regular Instax for the slightly larger pics.

My friend Cara has one, and she LOVES it. The only issue she has with it is that the viewfinder is not accurate, so she doesn't even try to use it. She just holds the camera and shoots in the direction she thinks will work. The pictures turn out great, but the film is a bit expensive for such a trial and error method of composition.

She talks about it here: http://hilljoyphotos.wordpress.com/2009/12/09/learning_curve/.

I want one too Ez! Of course I can't ever justify buying myself such things... I also heard that the photos are great, but that you have to sort of get used to the viewfinder being off. I'm totally going to ask for one for my birthday in march....

I got it for christmas, but due to some errors FINALLY got the correct order yesterday, and I LOVE it!!!! I actually prefer it to the orignal polaroid. I love the size and the size of the image, the exposure and feel. I definitely recommend it!

I really want one of these! I'm going to wait a bit though because my boyfriend surprised me with a mini sticker photo printer (the dell wasabi), and its photos are the same size... I need to get some good use out of that before I purchase anything! But its so cute :) I hope you get one soon!

Mine is on order along with my Canon adaptable Diana lens. I'm not sure which I am more excited about! It was a little bit of a splurge since it's right after Christmas, but I knew eventually I was going to order it. Why not now? :)

Hope you get yours soon!

I have one of these - i got it from ebay for 99p (used - but in perfect condition), and i find buying the film on ebay is loads cheaper than the shops too - it's great for parties - take a sharpie and you can get all the revellers to leave msgs on their pics. As the night goes on, they get better and better!

I got one through a contest and I love it! I never had a Polaroid camera, and probably won't now because of the film price. But this little guy gets me through! :D :D

I adore my chocolate fuji instax mini 7s. I love that the film is card-sized and the pictures come out really well as in good detail & sharpness & color compared to original Polaroid film (IMO). The viewfinder is a little off but you will learn and adjust quickly so it's not too big of a problem. I suggest getting it from ebay where it's sold with the film and maybe the self-photo lens.

I haven't gotten my hands on one yet either but it is on my wishlist for sure. I am hoping to indulge my creativity with one soon.

My brother is a photography student and got it for xmas. He loves it! The pictures come out really nice. I think the camera itself is bigger than I expected. At any rate, it's a great replacement for Polaroid!

You can definitely get it for less than $100. Look around on ebay.

I have one, the instax mini 25, it's more compact than the one in the photo.

I'm an analog photography lover, and now I can't use my Polaroid... so I'm very happy to have this one! The colors in the photos are so vivid, I love the effect :)

My boyfriend bought it for the January 6th, the Three Kings Day, so I've had only a week to try it :) But I'm very very happy with it :D So, I absolutely recommend you to get one! :)

One more thing on my wishlist (now)...

January 14, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJen

I managed to get one in september after finding out about it some months
before. it's really great, fun. but the image doesn't come out exactly like what
you see in the view finder (thus, I always have weirdly cropped images)

to me, the films are pricey but it's much more affordable than polaroid. I'd say
get it if you'd like an instant camera ;)

I LOVE this polaroid! I got the Hello Kitty version one from Ebay... I think Ebay has a good deal in terms of camera + the film, because the film itself is quite expensive if you buy it at stores. It's FUN!

i have one and i love it, the photos are great! i bought in Ebay the film, is very convenient!

i got this as a gift from my boyfriend over a year ago. i love it SO much. i'm happy that it's becoming popular in the states; finding film is getting easier (as opposed to waiting for friends to bring it back from their trips to japan). you can also get film w/ hello kitty and various characters on ebay. the photos turn out great, sharper than i expected. i hope you get one..you won't regret it! :D

Totally on my wish list too! One of my best friends got one for Xmas and brought it along cosmic bowling last weekend - so much fun!! It takes some getting used to but I loooove the little printouts. :) Here's what one of my fave photog couples did with their shots: http://www.theblogisfound.com/index.cfm?postID=535
