 kumquats by Jen Gotch {FLICKR} . {BLOG}

This image brought back so many childhood memories when I saw it.  Have you ever eaten a kumquat?  I used to adore them as a kid, but can't seem to find the taste for them anymore.  They are almost like a mini hybrid cross between an orange and a lemon, with a soft peel that is meant to be eaten.  What was your favorite food when you were a kid?  Do you still like it now?  xox Ez

As a kid, I loved watermelon. That was in the "old" days when they came with seeds and we had spitting contests. Now things are a bit less messy, still love the watermelon, but with my four kids I know to get the seedless kind.

Enjoy your day!

OMG, I love kumquats. My kids eat them like crazy now . . . but it's so funny when their noses wrinkles once they get to the sour part. And they're supposed to be good for you when you have a cough or sore throat.

I love this photo of Jen's. =)As a kid I ate a weird array of things. I loved iceberg lettuce and could eat a whole head of it plain while watching cartoons.I also really loved eating the Tang crystals straight from the jar. My finger would be orange after! Haha

I used to love cake icing as a kid. In fact, my cousin and I used to fight over the sugar Ronald McDonald on the top of her McDonald's birthday cake (back when they did parties...). Now, the thought of it makes me ill. :)

The one thing that would drag me and my brother out of the bed on a weekend morning was chocolate gravy. I realize that many of you have no idea what that is. Just think hot biscuits covered in warm chocolate and butter. Mmmm. I ended up hating it for years. But now, I kinda get a craving for it every once in a while.

Ohhh... my little sisters and I did this too! We would spend hours eating watermelon and saving the seeds, and then have "watermelon wars" with each other. Such fun (but so sticky). Thanks for sharing! xox

I didn't realize that they were good for coughs! I'm going to have to give it a try. I'd say kumquats would beat the taste of cough syrup any day! : )

When I was a kid I used to LOVE peanut butter balls! Still like peanut butter, but not in those sorts of quantities!

You have no idea how happy this post makes me! I'm actually starting a company called Kumquat Culture (a compendium of cultural information for people going to live or study abroad) and I've been getting really overwhelmed with all the work and planning lately. I just got the logo finished and am trying to get the website up and starting the legalization process. This just really brightened my day and gave me a little bit of encouragement. Thank you!
