The Project Runway Winner Is...

Did you watch the finale of Project Runway last night?  Wow... what a show!  It is hard for me to say who "should" have won... the level of talent was just immense this season!

So... Christian Siriano won!

Christian has such a strong creative vision... especially for someone who's just entered his 20's!  It is clear that he will go far in the fashion industry... he has the passion and drive to go as far as he wants to!  Congratulations Christian!

Check out photos of his collection and some sweet backstage snapshots on his site right here.  (link courtesy of the oh-so-lovely Holly of decor8)

dang it girl! I love you, but you really should have put a spoiler alert on that. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet and had no idea I'd be in danger of finding out by coming here. Oh well...

The press, television, and the web is all over this today, I think Carolina was going to eventually find out anyway!!

I do think his line was the most "OMG" but would you actually wear anything he made? Would anyone but Posh Spice? Shouldn't the idea be to design for real women? He proved he wasn't willing to do that when he got a short, not size 0 model for the Prom challenge. No one I like ever wins!! Ok, off the soapbox!

Ok... I'm removing the spoiler alert now. By now I hope everyone has had a chance to see the finale!

There are definitely two different sides to fashion... the ready to wear collections and the couture (or at the very least on the more extreme end) looks.I respect both design methodologies. A lot of the pieces I designed in school were on the extreme side. This isn't because I didn't care if they were wearable or not... but because I wanted to be the first step on the chain of translation. Many of the ready to wear looks we see in stores are just toned down versions of over-the-top runway ensembles.Fashion is fun!

Oh no - wish I hadn't seen that - the series has just started here (Cape Town) and we've only just been introduced to the designers! Oh well it's a good thing I'll be less addicted now : )
