Color Week Challenge - Yellow

Happy Indepenence Day!

For today's Color Week Challenge I thought I'd share two little bits of my life with you all.  The two images I chose are: a photo I took of myself (Photoshop practice... please be kind... it's a bit nerve-wracking to see myself on here), that was inspired by old family photographs from the 70's and 80's.  And the second is a corner in my bedroom.  Inside the blue boxes at the bottom of the shot (it's hard to tell that they are boxes, huh?)... are unopened letters that I write and mail to my daughter with the intention of giving them to her on her 18th birthday.  The painting is the first version of the one I did for the blind auction a while back.   Just a little glimpse into my world.

Thanks for reading!

Color Week Challenge - Green

Just last week I put together a green-themed post (on the old CC), so it's a good thing that I'm loving the color these days, or today's color challenge would have been a struggle.

Images featured are:
-Assorted scans from Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine (my all time favorite inspirational source).
-Criss Cross Halter Dress by Porridge, at Green Apple.  (Also check out this adorable Petticoat Skirt (not featured) by Twinkle by Wenlan).
-Dark Green Patent & Suede Venezia Heels by Lumiani, at Zappos.
-White Paphiopedilum "Maudiae" Orchid at Martha Stewart Flowers.

Fin Fan

If you've never browsed the ever-changing collection of lovely patterns submitted to Naked & Angry (don't worry it's not a weird fetish site...but it does looks bad when it comes up in your history log, LOL), then you've really got to get on over there a.s.a.p!  If you feel so inclined, you can also create and send in your own pattern designs too!  My most recent favorite is this "Tasty Sea" design, created by Galina Panchenko.  Can't you see it as a fabric for home accessories, an adorable pair of nautical flats, and more?!   Check out more of Galina's work over on her Flickr album too.

Also pictured: Melody Blouse, Plaid Cotton Blouse, and Hand-painted Enamel Carousel Ring... all from J.Crew.

Collections...

I've always had a thing for little collections of odds and ends (my most recent collections include twigs and seedpods)... so when I spotted these ready made "boxes of inspiration" I just had to share the love.  Aren't they sweet!

Shown here are:
the Yellow & Green Box of Inspiration, and the Red & Gray Box of Inspiration both from Scissorspaperglue.

Square One...

Welcome to the "NEW" Creature Comforts!  Thanks for coming by... I hope you'll take a moment to bookmark CC and/or subscribe to my RSS feed.  Speaking of which... you have got to try Google's latest fantastic creation: Google Reader.  It's super easy to use, and my favorite feature is the ability to add customized tags to each feed as you read it.  You can also share pages of interest with your friends, "star" a favorite post for easy reference, and more.  It's grand!... and now that Creature Comforts is "underscore-free"... you can add me too!  Hurray!

In the coming months I plan to bring you some new and exciting features, and hope that you'll drop me a line if you think of anything in the meantime that you'd like to see here, that needs improvement, or just to say "hi"... you can never get too many happy messages in your inbox!

For the first post here I wanted to share with you the work of Kate Wilson.  I found her on Flickr, and just adore her style.  In addition to her artistic talent, Kate also has two blogs.  Her art blog: Little Doodles (you can e-mail her if you see anything you are interested in purchasing or check out her NEW etsy shop.) ...and I, Bejeweled  featuring some of the most fabulously inspirational jewelry.  Check 'em out!

Thanks for being here! xox Ez
