A Mini Update
Hello lovelies! As you know my recent health has not been so great, and now with what seems like endless medical tests behind me (MRI, EKG, blood work, etc) I can finally give you a little update on what we've discovered.
To start with, I was given some scary diagnosis from doctors in the past...things like "spot on your lung", "degenerative bone disease", and more. That compiled with some recent frightening heart/chest pain symptoms, breathing difficulty, coughing, constantly aching bones, and extreme fatigue (I was napping multiple hours every day - so unlike me) had me really worried. Honestly we still don't know exactly what is causing all my symptoms, but two causes we know for (almost) sure...I have an extreme Vitamin D deficiency (causes bone pain and fatigue) and they have just begun to experimentally treat me for Asthma (I go back to the doctor in a few weeks so she can read my Peak Flow Meter readings, etc. - I currently have about half the lung capacity that I should). Two weeks ago I began taking a prescription dose of Vitamin D and already feel a decrease in my bone pain and my energy level has improved quite a bit (woo hoo). Here is an interesting article on the frequency of Vitamin D deficiencies in women that you might like to read.
Luckily the tests that I underwent were also able to rule out my past diagnosis of Degenerative Bone Disease as well as the "spot on my lung" which we were terrified by. I will be hooked up to a heart monitor (starting today) to record its activity over the next month and am also scheduled to have an ultrasound of my heart just to rule out any further problems there (I had an irregular EKG a few weeks ago) but my cardiologist seems to think that all will be okay on that front...which is fantastic.
So now I will just be taking an inhaler every day, dosing myself with mega amounts of vitamin D and looking forward to breathing easier and feeling peppier in the near future. I feel silly for all the worry I caused my family, friends and you all. Thank you all for your kind words of support in the midst of it all. xo Ez

Hi, this is my first time at your personal blog. I am a current reader of your creature comforts blog. I was curious if you have had a thyroid test? It is an over looked test that can reak havoc with your body when it's out of sync. Good luck. Remember if you are not satisfied with results, test etc. from your current Doctor, please look for another and keep copies of all test for your personal records.
Wow--Ez! I haven't checked in on your personal blog in a long time. {why does it take such effort to put new subscriptions in google reader??} anyway, I am so sad to read about your health condition. I will saying some prayers in the quiet moments when I am up late working. Hope your situation improves!
blessings!
I'm not a regular reader of your blog, but found your site through a Bloesem link via Twitter. I just wanted to wish you luck with your health findings. I recently just went through a similar scare with what I thought were heart palpitations that ended up turning out to be PVC's....never heard of those before a visit to the cardiologist. Being hooked up to a heart monitor was not fun, but I promptly made fun of myself for having to wear what was essentially a box on a belt clip. Take care and I hope you feel like yourself very soon!
I echo the post about celiac disease. You might not have full blown celiac, but it definitely sounds like a gluten intolerance/sensitivity. Try going 100% gluten free for a month or so (no cheating), and then add it back in and see what happens. Everyone in my family that tried this has seen such drastic positive results that they have cut out gluten permanently. My aunt had terrible aches/pains and a vitamin D deficiency and now is doing great. Good luck.
I was just reading about vitamin D deficiency on GOOP (which, I know, is kind of a cheesy newsletter but I secretly love it) and was so fascinated. I thought you were supposed to never leave the house without sunscreen for one minute! http://goop.com/newsletter/88/en/
Glad you're feeling better though!
Very impressive!
Thanks for your presentation and I appreciate that!
Keep up your good work. I will come here regularly for news.
I felt relieved to read your post. I too have had some medical problems this year and the dr. is still trying to pinpoint what's going on with me. It seems like I have a few "symptoms" from about 3 different diseases but not enough of them to have a full diagnosis. Its been frustrating and scary knowing your body is not normal but not being able to find out what it really going on. While going through all this testing, I found out that I too have a Vitamin D deficiancy. It also seems that this is on the rise for many women. Thank you for sharing and I hope you find out what is going on and soon feel better!
Hi! I hope you are feeling better. My mom had similar symptoms to yours a couple of years ago and they diagnosed her with an autoimmume disease, I can't remember what her disease is called now (it's the one where you can develop lesions on your organs) but since she has gotten treatment she is much better. She had similar issues with the doctors not being able to properly diagnose her and constantly thinking she had something other than she did. I read that this is common with autoimmune diseases. Anyway, I'm sure your doctors are going to get to the bottom of what's ailing you but I thought I would share my experience. I hope it helps in some way to know that others have gone through similar issues. Feel better!!
