The HP / Project Runway Challenge: Week 4

Ez in Fashion + Style, HP Challenge

This past week on Project Runway the designers were tasked to design a workday-to-evening look for Nina Garcia. I wasn't sure what we'd be seeing walk down the runway since it seemed that just about every color, pattern, silhouette concept from the designers was met with a brisk "no" by Nina. After all the "nos" we did find out that Nina likes pants, and....I think that was it. I was stumped right along with the project runway designers. But oh how fun it was to watch the psychological mind game that this challenge became. In the end I adored the winning designers look. If you've seen the episode, were you happy with the winner too (try not to give any spoilers away)?

So as you know I have been participating in a fun challenge by HP to use their TouchSmart 610 computer to interpret each week's challenge. I really had a hard time getting started this time since I felt that the winning design pretty much encapsulated the perfect look for Nina. But of course this is called a "challenge" for a reason, so I stopped second-guessing myself and got to work. In the end I deciding to make a top and skirt (two piece offer more mileage) for Nina. The skirt features sculptural pockets and is accented with a softly draped top with hand-beaded applique and convertible sleeves that drape open to reveal beaded spaghetti straps for a more evening appropriate look (they fasten up with a hidden closure for daytime wear). And I'd finish the look off with a pair of classic pumps like these by Kate Spade. It's a good thing that Nina isn't really judging me, because I'm not sure that I would fare all that well. But regardless, I'm personally pretty happy with the look I came up with and kind of wish that it was in my closet right now.

I hope you like my interpretation this week. I'll have another challenge to share with you next Monday following this week's show. If you haven't been watching Project Runway you can see full episodes online for free, right here. And if you missed the first three posts I did in this series, you can pop on over and see those right here. xo Ez

Full disclosure...because that's just how I roll. HP provided me with a TouchSmart 610 computer for use with these weekly challenges. All content was left solely up to me. I have not been financially compensated for my opinions of this product or the Project Runway show.
