Hello lovelies and happy Friday! I thought I'd share a little personal review with you for this simple and tasty dessert my daughter and I found in the May 2010 issue of Everyday Foods Magazine. Unfortunately I couldn't find the actual recipe online to share with you (it will hopefully be online sometime soon), but you should be able to pick up an affordable copy of the magazine in your local grocery market or bookstore.
UPDATE: Here the recipe is for those of you who are interested.
This dessert was the perfect excuse to get me back in the kitchen after a small cooking hiatus. My daughter helped out (it's fairly kid friendly). We substituted milk chocolate chips for the semi-sweet variety it called for and within no time we had our own tart chilling in the fridge. We made the silly mistake of cutting into it too soon (who could resist all the scrumptious chocolate) and it ended up oozing all over the place. It was popped back into the refrigerator overnight and presto-chango...perfection in the morning.
While the results were completely delicious, I am actually not a giant fan of chocolate and found the tort to be on the intense side. I've decided that the next time around I will try it in a vanilla wafer crust with pulverized toasted almonds, and perhaps a tiny bit of coconut mixed in for good measure.
Next up on my recipes to try list will be Raspberry-Lemon Whoopie Pies from the same issue of Everyday Foods. Yummers!
