I recently received an email from Alicia - a sweet reader who is moving into a new home and wants some ideas for decorating her bedroom.  She's already purchased some beautiful cushions and would like to build a look around them.  I'll be the first to admit that I'm no interior decorator, but I love a good challenge and hope my little finds give you some ideas for decorating your own spaces.

To start with... I love the pillows that she chose, and wanted to pull out the small green elements to give the space a fresh creative feel.

For this room I would like to see some classic furniture pieces in black or white.  Using a decorative chair as a nightstand is a fun and unexpected way to keep things exciting (keep your bedside necessities arranged on a pretty tray set upon the seat).  The addition of textured white bed linens would look bright and inviting on the bed.  Layering textures and colors is a wonderful way to add drama and interest to any space, and I think that the white linens will give all the accessories the attention they deserve.

I hope this gives you some ideas.  Have fun decorating your new space Alicia!  I'm sure it will turn out beautifully!

4. Little details make a huge impact - Candle by Kobo at Burke Decor
5. Luis Upholstered Armchair from Ballard Designs - TIP: if you're on a budget try searching local thrift shops and estate sales for a chair that you like.  You can always have it reupholstered if the fabric is not to your liking.
